  • 3 Step Spring Loaded

3 Step Spring Loaded Mobile Steps

3 Step Narrow Aisle mobile steps fitted with spring loaded castors which retract when the operator's weight is placed on the steps.

The spring loaded mobile castors have 75mm rubber tyre wheels fitted as standard and different spring rates for the front and rear castors to help balance the weight of the steps. The legs are fitted with rubber feet which bottom out on the ground when the mobile steps are stood on.

Handrails are fitted to both sides of the mobile steps with 1m high handrails around the top step platform. The narrow steps incline is 45 degrees to allow easy climbing up and down.

All our mobile steps are made here in Kettering and are of a strong welded steel construction. The steps come as standard in a painted finish and have a safety notice fitted.

Mobile Steps lead time is generally 7 days. Whilst we stock the step components, the mobile steps are built to order. We would typically allow 3 days to build the steps, a day to paint them and then despatch the mobile ladders on a 3 day service.

We deliver mobile safety steps with FREE SHIPPING to mainland UK, excluding Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Islands. Please call for a delivery price to these regions. Prices do not include VAT.

We manufacture our mobile safety steps using prime steel and components at our factory in Kettering. Collection from our factory is possible - contact us for a discount if you wish to do this.

    Standard Punched Steel Step Treads

As standard, our mobile safety steps are fitted with "punched and raised holes" step treads. These treads are highly slip resistant and also shed water off very efficiently.

The step treads are formed from 2mm mild steel and have 9 mm dia punched and 5 mm dia drainage holes in a square pattern. The 9mm holes are "raised" in such a way that the sharp edge of the hole is exposed which grips the sole of a shoe offering high levels of slip resistance. The step treads pass a 15mm ball bearing test - a standard test for steps and grid flooring. The punched and drainage holes give the profile an unsurpassed high strength to weight ratio.

These treads have been tested for slip resistance by the testing company Lucideon in their UKAS accredited testing laboratory. The "Pendulum Test" was originally developed for road surfaces but has grown to include all manner of surfaces such as supermarket floors or swimming pools.

Our step treads were rated as follows:
Dry test: 66 value - Extremely low
Wet test: 50 value - Low

    Optional Aggressive Tread

This step is more akin to a bear trap! The Aggressive step tread can be identified by oval, serrated holes that provide the top flange of the planks with a very high load capacity, and rolled side flanges that further reinforce the planks and gratings.

This step tread is used where requirements of slip resistance and drainage are high - often in marine environments, industries with oil and water, building sites, etc. Please note, this is an optional extra and also adds an extra week or so to the build time.

Whilst we can make steps with rubber mats stuck on, we no longer offer them as a standard option. They offer no real benefit over the punched steel treads and over time, the glue will invariable fail... a corner lifts... gets caught... gets ripped off.

  • Access Platform

  • Axial Mobile Step 6 Step 1500mm

Axial Mobile Safety Steps - 6 Step

These Axial Mobile Steps are based on our standard heavy duty range of steps, with all the strength, but with narrow steps and 4 swivel castors. This gives them great manoeuvrability and makes them ideal to go down narrow spaces or aisles where access is tight.

On the standard steps, the wheels on the rear axle protrude beyond the steps for stability. These narrow aisle steps have the wheels mounted under the framework of the steps, which means they are suitable for racking with narrow aisles or tight spaces.

Note though, that they should not be used in open spaces as they are not as stable if the operative is leaning out. In order to improve stability, all our Axial Mobile Steps have tapering sides so the user is forced to stand over the centre line.

Our Axial range sports 4 swivel castors which enable the steps to rotate within their own footprint. These swivel castors can be raised so the steps frame bottoms out on the ground.

There are 2 lever brakes which disengage each pair of wheels. The levers are mounted within the structure of the steps so there is no additional width and have brightly colour handles for ease of use.

The mobile ladder is fitted with our industrial hi-grip step as standard, also a 100mm kick-plate and safety operating sticker. The top platform width of the steps is 400mm. The Axial warehouse step has a max width of 540mm, but we can offer the ladder in any custom size as required.

Mobile steps are painted as standard, or can be galvanized.

Mobile Steps lead time is generally 7 days. Whilst we stock the step components, the mobile steps are built to order. We would typically allow 3 days to build the steps, a day to paint them and then despatch the mobile ladders on a 3 day service.

    Safety Steps Galvanized Finish

As an optional extra, we are able to offer a galvanized mobile step finish. The galvanized mobile step is dip coated as a fully welded structure so retains its inherent strength and has no nuts & bolts which can loosen over time.

The galvanized zinc coating fully covers the mobile ladder protecting it from the detriments of the outside environment, especially important in external and coastal environments. It is equally useful in food preparation or scientific clean areas where it can be pressure washed regularly and there is no risk of paint flakes.

This range of steps, our Easy Slope Range, has a slope angle of 45 degrees, and a comfortable step increment of 200mm. This allows users to descend facing forwards while carrying boxes.

The platform height from the ground of this ladder is 1200mm.

The mobile ladder is fitted with our industrial hi-grip step as standard, also a 100mm kick-plate and safety operating sticker. We can offer the ladder in a wider step width of 850mm, or any custom size as required.

Mobile Steps lead time is generally 7 days. Whilst we stock the step components, the mobile steps are built to order. We would typically allow 3 days to build the steps, a day to paint them and then despatch the mobile ladders on a 3 day service.

Mobile steps are painted as standard, or can be galvanized.

We deliver easy slope mobile steps with FREE SHIPPING to mainland UK, excluding Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands and Islands. Please call for a delivery price to these regions. Prices do not include VAT.

We manufacture our easy slope mobile steps using prime steel and components at our factory in Kettering. Collection from our factory is possible - contact us for a discount if you wish to do this.

    Standard White Nylon Wheels

As standard, our mobile safety steps are fitted with 200mm dia white nylon wheels at the back and 100mm polyurethane wheels housed in swivel castors at the front.

These wheels are hard wearing and robust to give a long life, with each rated to 150kg.

    Optional Rubber Wheels

As an optional extra, we can fit rubber tyred wheels. These are the same size and of a similar load rating to the nylon wheels. Rubber has the advantage of being quieter when being rolled and slightly easier to push. They cannot though easily be skidded sideways.

    Safety Steps Standard Paint Finish

As standard, our mobile safety steps come painted, using a one coat primer/finish - Zinfos 700CT. This gives good adhesion to the steel with the primer for a long and robust life, and smart finished appearance with a 70% gloss level.

    Other Treads available

As the mobile steps manufacturer, we can build the steps with whatever treads suit your requirement. This is not of course the cheapest solution. We offer a competitively priced range of standard mobile steps but acknowledge that sometimes price is not the critical factor, but rather design is.

    Rubber Treads

Whilst we can make steps with rubber mats stuck on, we no longer offer them as a standard option. They offer no real benefit over the punched steel treads and over time, the glue will invariable fail... a corner lifts... gets caught... gets ripped off.

    Extended Access Platforms

Our standard mobile steps can be adapted to offer access from the top platform for more additional room. Whilst we have the triangular sides in stock, each mobile step is built to order and we can customise the top platform to suit your requirement.

The first point to mention is that our steps "slope" back slightly. This is deliberately designed for stability, but it does mean that if you butt our steps up against a brick wall, there will be a gap at the top. This can be overcome by extending the platform.

These options are only available on steps taller than 2m. This is because in the smaller mobile steps, there is no enough weight in the structure to counterbalance the offset weight of someone standing on an extension.

    Straight Through Access

An additional tread is added onto the steps platform with a handrail post for support. This will now butt up to a vertical wall.

    Left Access

An additional tread is added onto the front of the steps platform and also a tread onto the left hand side. Handrails are altered to suit.

The galvanized zinc coating fully covers the mobile ladder protecting it from the detriments of the outside environment, especially important in external and coastal environments. It is equally useful in food preparation or scientific clean areas where it can be pressure washed regularly and there is no risk of paint flakes.

    Right Access

An additional tread is added onto the front of the steps platform and also a tread onto the right hand side. Handrails are altered to suit.

    Double Access

For double access an additional tread is added onto the front of the steps platform and also a tread onto the left and right hand side. Handrails are altered to suit.
