These drop bottom skips are part of our heavy duty TITAN range, built and made to last! The framework of the skip is 50x50 box and the sheet steel sides are a substantial 3mm thick. The drop bottom bin can be loaded or filled anywhere in your warehouse or factory and then moved to a skip to empty. The locking mechanism is very sturdy and can be operated automatically by a forklift driver without having to leave the forklift.

The drop bottom bin has safety chains to attach the stillage to the carriage of the forklift to stop it from sliding off. The base is a single door bottom allowing good access out of bulky contents. All the Drop bottom bins are CE marked and have safety stickers and labels etc. All the bins are painted in 2 coats of anti-corrosive primer and top coat of heavy duty paint - choice of 4 bin colours - Red, Royal blue, Orange or Yellow.

How to Use the TITAN Drop Bottom Bin

- Pick up the stillage by forklift using the slots at the top of the bin.

- Wrap the safety chain around the forklift carriage and secure chain onto the hook on the bin.

- On the underside of the stillage is a release flap. This pivotting flap is linked to the main base release hook.

- Raise the stillage up and over the skip or container you are emptying into. Lower the stillage carefully so the flap bottoms out on the lip of the container.
  The hook is now disengaged, raise the stillage a little and the base will hinge and fall open.

- With the stillage base now open and hanging verically down, the bin will empty the contents.

- In order to both protect the hook and to stop waste snagging on the hook, there is a shielding steel pyramid to deflect debris past the hook.

 

 
 

To close the bin base, simply lower the drop bottom skip to the ground. As the base starts to close, reverse the truck slightly to allow the hinge to swing. As you near the flat level, the hook will re-engage, locking the base and away you go. Very simple, neat and effective! Great design!

Our TITAN heavy duty Drop Bottom Skips are supplied in a painted finish as standard. We can offer them in a galvanized finish as an optional extra. Galvanizing the bins entails dipping the skips into a hot molten bath of zinc at 449°C which coats every surface with up to 1mm thick zinc. Zinc itself will not rust, so the life of the drop bottom bin is potentially 20 to 30 years in outside conditions. Of course, hit it with a forklift, compromise the zinc coating and you expose the steel underneath! If you are unfamiliar with zinc coatings for skips, a hot dip galvanized skip has the same finish as a farm gate, that mottled dark grey/silver colour.

Whilst the galvanizing of a drop bottom skip is quite expensive especially with the number of moving parts, it is substantially cheaper than a drop bottom skip made from stainless steel.

If a drop bottom skip spends alot of time outside then a lid may be needed, whether to reduce exposure to the elements or to keep contents in the skip in windy conditions. A lid folds open in 2 halves with a padlock tab in the centre. Please note though, rain water can enter the skip where the 2 half lids meet in the centre, it uis not totally watertight. The lid needs to be ordered when you purchase the tipping skip, it can't be reto-fitted to your skip.

Brop Bottom Skips are invariably moved around and emptied by forklift, but the addition of wheels and castors make them far more user friendly and easy to use when being loaded. The standard cupped feet are replaced with castor plates and we can fit 150mm dia heavy duty nylon wheels in a 4 swivel castor configuration. The load capacity of the drop bottom bin is not compromised at 1000kg, although you will have to consider the manual handling aspect of your work place if the drop bottom bin is full to capacity.
